Aloha Maunaloa School Ohana,
So many amazing things happened during the 2nd quarter! All of our students continue to make progress academically! I am proud to share that since the beginning of the year, our faculty, staff, and students have been working extremely hard providing quality instruction and interventions for every student on campus.I am extremely proud of our students, faculty, and staff for their hard work as we continuously work towards increasing student achievement.
As we prepare for Winter Break, I want to send a friendly reminder that attendance is a priority at Maunaloa School, as it is a powerful predictor of student outcomes. Did you know?
Please remember that according to the law, (§302A-1132,§302A-1134, §302A-1136) all students 5-18 years old must be in school and the school is required to enforce attendance. As we monitor daily attendance and actively enforce the state law and school attendance policy, here’s what you can do to help.
What an exciting quarter for Maunaloa School! Our children have already made tremendous progress thus far with the continued love and support of our faculty, staff, and partnership with you at home. I hope our students have a fun and relaxing Winter Break and look forward to seeing all their smiling faces as we welcome 2024!
All my love,
Kimberly Ka’ai

- Starting in preschool and kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school.
- Missing 10%, or about 2 days each month over the course of a school year, can make it harder for students to learn to read, build their comprehension, and keep up in their classroom.
- A missed school day is a missed opportunity for students to learn. Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance.
- Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school--and themselves.

- Please continue to send your child to school on time, every day!
- If your child wakes up late, have them come to school anyway.
- Should your child have any appointments, try to schedule them after 11:00 am so they can be present during the morning core blocks and will not be considered absent.
